In most cases, pigmentation spots can be removed more gently and precisely with LUMECCA than with a CO₂ laser. LUMECCA targets excess pigment directly without damaging the skin surface – meaning little to no downtime, excellent tolerability, and fast results. A CO₂ laser, on the other hand, removes the upper layer of skin, making it more intensive but also associated with longer healing times and a higher risk of redness or pigmentation changes. This is why LUMECCA is especially suitable for treating pigmentation spots alone, while a CO₂ laser is often used when wrinkles, scars, or uneven skin texture also need to be treated.
